I Will Never Ever....

Inspired by one of my favourite blogs  hangups & handbags  I have decided to write my very own Never Ever list just for the joy of it!

I will never ever...

  • Wear crocs... I hate them! No matter how comfy they are, I really don't care! I will NEVER own a pair of crocs (or even worse, the horrible croc knock offs) ever

  • Become a fitness fanatic... I do enjoy exercise (when I actually get off my bum & do it) but I will never ever be  a gym bunnie who goes to the gym every day. I just don't have it in me!

Lottie's Finishing School H is For....

A tale of a curly haired girl....
ME XMAS 2007

I am catching up with things at the moment after a few weeks buried under a giant 'to do' list. I have fallen behind with the wonderful Lottie's Finishing School which I always find a great inspiration for blog posts (for my other posts from the finishing school so far click here).

You Shall Go To The Ball...

I  once again feel the need to apologise that I have been unable to keep up with the amount of blog posts that I usually manage. Hopefully, this will be the last time I will have to apologise for a while!

By way of apology and also to kick off the festive season at NikkiNakkiLou I have scoured the shops for 50 (yes 50!) fabulous frocks for the party season...

AW Accessory Alphabet - part 3

G IS FOR GOING FOR GOLD...

Gold is something that goes in and out of fashion season to season. I think that it sometimes gets a bit of a bad rep (mostly due to giant chav earrings - for reference see The Jeremy Kyle Show). But if done well, and used to accessorise without going over the top, gold can be a warming colour that is perfect for the winter party season.

Gold Shell Clutch - £32, Accessorize
Multi row necklace - £40, French connection
Vintage gold clip on earrings - £8, Love Hearts & Crosses
Cuff - £8, Very
Sequined Alice Band - £9.99, New Look

Style Steal - Kelly Brook @ The Pride Of Britain Awards

The inspiration for this Style Steal post is the gorgeous Kelly Brook and her outfit at the Pride of Britain awards. I love it when Kelly dresses in a classic ladylike dress as I think it really suits her figure. I don't think she needs to show much flesh to look stunning...

Style Crush: Gwen Stefani

I have been trying to think of ways to keep the blog fresh of late, and I am thinking of expanding what I write about and maybe introducing one or two new features. As always, your feedback as readers will be appreciated! I don't want the blog to stray too far away from it's roots but I would like to have a wider range of subject areas as I want to write about the things I love and the things that inspire me. Some of you may know already that I have another blog (yes I am crazy!) which I am using to document my journey trying to be a more ethical shopper, if that interests you, you can visit here...

Now back to business...

I love to get my style inspiration from a number of places, and I have a rather eclectic taste in people who's style I love. I have decided to share some of my style crushes with you - some old. some new and some ongoing...

Dotty K Jewellery

One of the things that I love about blogging is the interaction I get to have with people who are interested in similar things to myself. I know that blogging communities often get a bad rep but my experience has been a positive one. I chat to a number of other bloggers on a regular basis and they are always inspiring me and often keep me going when I get into a bit of writing block.

I recently got an email from the lovely Amy of Wolf Whistle, which introduced me to a brand that I had not come across before,  a fabulous jewellery brand called Dotty K. Amy kindly sent me the new look book and I loved it!

Eco Fashion Designer Wins Project Runway

Trying to allign my love of fashion with my ethical beliefs is something that I feel passionately about. I am a firm believer that as consumers we all have a responsibility to think about where the products we buy have come from.

So I was pretty pleased when I read that an ethical designer won the recent season of Project Runway. 28 year old Gretchen Jones, was the only designer in the competition that was commited to making eco-friendly designs. I was happy to read that Jones believes in wearable fashion that doesn't cost the earth.

“I’m a green designer because of my own ethics and my own concerns, but if you don’t have a strong product, it doesn’t matter what your social and ethical practices are […] For the green movement to move forward, we have to create products that are worthy of everybody’s attention and interest and dollar.” Source

I am yet to see the season and I have read that she was a controversial contestant, but I am happy that a mainstream TV show is showing that fashion and ethics can go hand in hand.

Butterfly Day

My lovely fellow blogger Rachel at Mon Polkadot Cheri is trying to raise awareness about the illness Lupus. This is a cause very close to her heart as she suffers from Lupus, and this month is Lupus Awareness Month.  Today she is encouraging people to wear a butterfly and spread awareness.
Please support Rachel & the sufferers of Lupus. I will be proudly wearing a butterfly today and I hope I can make others aware of the illness.
