ACNE debut at LFW

Like most people who are interested in fashion, I am looking forward to London Fashion Week. Whilst I can't go (I wish wish wish that I was, maybe next year? *sigh*) I will be there in spirit.

One show that I am really interested in seeing is ACNE's LFW debut (19th September). The Swedish brand seems to be going from strength to strength of late in the UK. They opened their first UK flagship store in London's Mayfair on 15th July and they appear to be winning over the fashion community.

For those of you who are not familiar with the brand they launched in 1997 as a four man creative collective, with just 100 pairs of unisex jeans (which sold out fast), and they fast became a cult brand known for their denim and leather pieces.
The name is quite odd admittedly, it is an acronym -  'Ambition to Create Novel Expression' - and founder and creative director Johnny Johansson is not completely comfortable with it himself.

"I never felt comfortable with the name...And, of course, now it’s too late to change it"

But the name is set, and it is known as an identifiable brand. And to be honest with you, you do get over the name pretty fast once you see the collections!

In 2008, brand founder and creative director Jonny Johansson collaborated with Alber Elbaz of Lanvin, which (not surprisingly) caused more of a buzz around the brand.

So now you have a bit of the lowdown on the brand, let's talk London Fashion Week! The brand will be debuting at LFW with their SS11 collection. There is a preview of the collection at their website, if you want an idea of what to look forward to. The collection seems very 70s inspired, think Jerry Hall, Bianca Jagger & Marianne Faithful.

Here are some of my picks...
